Air Race Chics 2011

Dear friends and sponsors,

It's that time of year and it’s time to race! We are celebrating 100+ years of licensed women pilots and the 35th annual Air Race Classic 2011 is taking off this June 21st from Iowa City, Iowa (KIOW).

The Air Race Chics will be racing in the "Kane Flyer," Centennial Cirrus SR22 once again. Kristen and her co-pilot, Chelsea "Juice" Welch will be competing in the world’s only all-female pilot air race! 

Starting from Iowa City Municipal Airport (KIOW) with the finale in Mobile, Alabama (KBFM), the race route will cover 2,722 statute miles of exhilarating cross-country flying and include 11 general aviation airport stops down and through the Midwest of the US.

Thank you for your generous support in past years! You will be happy to know that with your help in the previous years, more female aviators have been encouraged to get out and fly! 

Race sponsor funds have been donated toward scholarships awarding individuals monies to assist with FAA certificates or ratings, college aviation degrees and other aviation-related endeavors.

In addition, in 2010 funds were set aside in collaboration with the Carbonfund.org to plant 1,500 trees in Haiti for global reforestation efforts.

As Ninety-Nines our mission is to promote world fellowship through flight, awareness of aviation in local communities and celebrate the unique history of women in aviation. 

The Air Race Classice celebrates this mission while promoting women across the globe to get involved in aviation.
